The Peacock

The term peafowl can refer to the two species of bird in the genus Pavo of the pheasant family, Phasianidae. Peafowl are best known for the male's extravagant tail, which it displays as part of courtship. The male is called a peacock, the female a peahen, though it is common to hear the female also referred to as a "peacock" or "female peacock".

They are colorful, they are loud, they are rich. But in a way, they are mysterious.

The Kaftan

Kaftans were originally worn by the Ottoman sultans and constituted one of the most splendid collections of Topkapı Palace in Istanbul. Some of them were so precious that they were given as rewards to important dignitaries and victorious generals during elaborate religious festivals.
Kaftans were often embroidered on the front and on the sleeves, but like everything else under the Ottomans, there was a strict hierarchical order in the colours, patterns, ribbons and buttons, which were chosen according to the rank of the person to whom they were presented.

Each had very specific characteristics and was named accordingly: there was velvet, aba, bürümcük, canfes, gatma, gezi, diba (Persian ديبا), hatayi, kutnu, kemha, seraser (Persian سراسر), serenk, zerbaft (Persian زربفت), tafta (Persian تافته), and many others; the most often used colours were 'China blue', 'Turkish red', violet, "pişmis ayva" or cooked quince, and saffron yellow.

Empires rise and fall. Emperors conquer and vanish. But a good design stays as a good design. Agreed.

The Lotus

The lotus symbolizes the union of the four elements; earth, air, fire, and water. The roots are in the earth, it grows in and by means of water, its leaves are nourished by air, and it blooms through the power of the sun's fire. The lotus is therefore the perfection of the fourfold order of the natural world. The growth of a new flower directly from the earth-bound original (infloresent proliferation) may be interpreted as a symbol of transcendence as found in Indian philosphophy: a spiritual emergence of a higher world directly from our physical manifestation. It may also be interpreted, as in Egypt, as the exaltation of the essence quality of the lotus.

Earth. Water. Fire. Air.

2008: A Space Odyssey

Space always remains a mystery to us. Ancient people looked upon the star to organize their life. There was and is astrology.

Are not we all, at certain points, gazing to the stars, and thinking how tiny we are? It is an endless space out there.

"..He'd have slung on his shoulder, by then, a long strip of east coast regulatory wear, the batik lepas, of hand-painted local cloth that made a head gear or body wrap on a rainy day, or simply just a handy bit of all purpose material." - Awang Goneng in Growing Up In Trengganu
